In framework of this project and in line with the company’s strategy LVR Fleet plans a purchase of a multi-purpose ice-class service vessel to improve the capacity and efficiency of the ice breaking operations in the port of Riga and the Gulf of Riga, as well as to improve the operational efficiency of other LVR Fleet services. Outside of the winter navigation period, the vessel shall be used for maintenance of aids to navigation, hydrographical surveys and other operations.
This project has alos a significance in strenghtening of military mobility – the vessel is intended to provide support for civil and military purposes to Latvian Navy and Border Guard, if necessary, as the vessel will be suitable for transporting military equipment and personnel. In adition, hybrid propulsion in the daily operation of a vessel will significantly reduce fossil fuel emissions and contribute to the overall achievement of climate neutrality and decarbonization goals in the port of Riga.
Total costs of the projects are planned to be 10 785 000.00 EUR. According to the funding agreement CINEA co-financing has been granted up to 50% of the eligible costs of the project.
