“As ports worldwide accelerate digitalisation to improve safety, sustainability, and operational efficiency, Syed Rakin Rahman, Reporter for Port Technology International, sat down with Laura Apoga, Business Development and Communication Project Manager at LVR Flote, during the TECHRITORY Conference in Riga. In this exclusive interview, they explore the LVR Flote’s role, fleet operations, expansion strategy, and forward-looking collaboration initiatives across the Baltic region.”
LVR Flote keeps the port safe and operational year‑round by providing hydrographic surveys, icebreaking, pilot transfers, oil‑spill response, maintenance of aids to navigation, infrastructure upkeep and vessel chartering. Operating for 15 years, LVR Flote combines fleet management with technical services and recently added LAURA, a multifunctional hybrid ice‑class vessel. The company uses USV and 5G-enabled tools for more efficient surveys and collaborates with the Port of Hamburg & Flotte Hamburg and technology partners to share innovation, training and best practice. LVR Flote’s immediate focus is strengthening cooperation across Latvian ports, with potential regional expansion later, always within EU rules and public‑interest obligations.
